Fat Dissolving Injections
Do you have extra fullness under your chin? Maybe it’s something you’ve had your whole life, something you’ve noticed recently, or something you’ve had for a long time. This is a condition known as submental fullness, also known as a “double chin” by some.
Belkyra is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment that kills fat cells under the chin to improve your profile.
How Does The Treatment Work?
Synthetic deoxycholic acid is the active ingredient in Belkyra®. Deoxycholic acid is a molecule that occurs naturally in the body and aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. Belkyra® destroys fat cells when injected beneath the chin, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Because these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat after they have been destroyed, further treatment is unlikely once you have achieved your desired aesthetic goal.
What Should I Expect?
Before beginning treatment, your healthcare provider will examine the area under and around your chin to see if Belkyra® is right for you. Then, depending on the amount of fat under the chin and your aesthetic goals, your specialist will customize your treatment.
How is it implemented?
Only a Belkyra®-trained healthcare specialist can administer treatment. You will receive multiple small injections under your chin during each treatment, and the injection process will take about 15 to 20 minutes. The number of injections required will be determined by the amount of fat under your chin and your desired profile.
How Often Will I Need the Treatment?
Because everyone’s chin profile is unique, the number of treatments required varies from patient to patient. Based on the amount and distribution of your submental fat, as well as your personal treatment goals, your healthcare specialist will help you determine how many treatment sessions you require. Each Belkyra® treatment session is at least one month apart, and no more than six treatments are recommended. In clinical trials, 59% of patients received 6 treatments.
Swelling, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area are the most common side effects of Belkyra®. These are not the only possible Belkyra® side effects. For medical advice on side effects, contact your doctor.
