Obagi Sunscreens Staples

Sunscreen is probably one of the most important products in your skincare routine. It is the best way to protect your skin against the damaging effects from UV rays from the sun. It also helps to protect the skin from faster signs of ageing caused by the sun. Most of the Irish nation tend to have pale sensitive skin which can burn very easily. Sun protection is so important for us as 1 in 6 men and 1 in 9 women will develop skin cancer over their lifetime in Ireland. As well as using sun screen it is important to protect yourself in other ways such as:

  • Seek shade between 10 am and 4 pm
  • Avoid letting your skin burn
  • Avoid tanning and UV tanning booths
  • Cover up, wear a hat and hear UV protection sunglasses
  • Use a sunscreen every day with an SPF of 30 or higher
  • Apply sunscreen all over your body and reapply every 2 hours especially after swimming or sweating
  • Examine your skin head to toe for changes every month
  • Have a skin exam done every year

There are so many different sunscreens on the market so it’s hard to tell which one is right for your skin type. Obagi have a great range of clinically proven sunscreens for all types of skin. We will go through these below to help you decide what’s best for you!

For Dull Skin

Most sunscreens are made specifically to protect from UV rays from the sun but Obagi have created Sun Sheild TINT Broad Spectrum SPF50 to give you a wide range of protection from UVA and UVB rays while also providing the skin with a healthy glow. This sunscreen comes with a tint in multiple shades for all skin tones.

For Sensitive Skin

Having sensitive skin can be difficult as it cannot tolerate or may react badly to certain products. Obagi products are clinically proven and made for skin that may not be able to handle certain ingredients. Obagi Nu-Derm Healthy Skin Protection Broad Spectrum SPF 35 is perfect for sensitive skin as it is formulated with zinc oxide and octioxate which will help protect new skin after dead skin cells are removed while protecting from the sun too.

For Dry Skin

Struggling with dry skin can be frustrating as many sunscreens can dry it out more. Obagi360 HydraFactor Broad Spectrum SPF 30 is a 2 in 1 moisturiser and sunscreen. It is extremely hydrating and soothing while giving a large spectrum of protection from the sun.

For Oily Skin

Many people with oily skin might think it is a good idea to leave putting on sunscreen and moisturiser out of fear their skin will be oilier looking. Luckily there is no need to fear as Obagi has come up with Sun Shield Matte Broad Spectrum SPF 50 which can give great UV protection while making the skin look and feel matte with no greasiness.

Antioxidants

Antioxidants are a great way to improve your skin so adding that to skin protection is the perfect match! Professional-C Suncare Broad Spectrum SPF 30 is formulated with L-ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) to protect the skin from the sun while improving the appearance of skin ageing.

Physical Sunscreen Formula

Obagi Nu-Derm Physical SPF 32 or Sun Shield Mineral Broad Spectrum SPF 50 are both formulated to defect the UV rays from the sun instead of absorbing them. These are both great for sensitive skin and Sun Shield Mineral is water resistant for up to 40 minutes.
